Versatile winger Pat O’Connell joined Fulham as a schoolboy and became one of the club’s most unsung heroes during their spell in the top flight in the 1960s. He made his debut in 1958, but finally nailed down a starting spot in the 1960-61 campaign when he scored ten goals in 28 games and starred in Fulham’s FA Cup run to the semi-finals the following season. He featured at left back in 1965-66 before surprisingly being released by Vic Buckingham. He joined Crystal Palace before teaming up with old team-mate Bobby Robson at Vancouver Whitecaps and playing non-league football in England. He became a taxi driver in London once his playing career at come to a close.
