Full back Tom Wilson, who joined Fulham to team up again with his former Southampton manager Bill Dodgin in August 1950, made 49 first-team appearances during seven injury-plagued years at Craven Cottage. He played a pivotal in securing the future of both the Cottage and Fulham Football Club as a director in the 1980s alongside his former flatmate Jimmy Hill. Wilson served on the board until the Muddymans were bought out by Mohamed Al-Fayed in the summer of 1997. He died in Putney, aged 79, in March 2010 after suffering from a serious illness.
