There are some good reasons to drive to away matches; listening to commentary on an earlier kick-off, and being able to tune in to the dulcet tones of Johnny Doom on Kerrang Radio as you speed down the M6 being just two of them. When my radio decided it wasn’t going to tune into either, I should perhaps have realised that the day wasn’t going to end well and turned back.
As first away games of the season go I can think of better places to go than Molineux. Especially a half-built Molineux. In the sunshine it had all the feel of visiting a lower league team for a pre-season friendly. I know Craven Cottage isn’t the most high-tech ground in the Premier League but we have at least got one scoreboard. It’s got a clock on it too. Woo! Molineux? Nothing. Two massive screens but they were turned off. Helpful.
Next up, the announcement that kick-off would be delayed by 5 minutes due to congestion. Sigh. I’ve never understood this. If congestion is so bad as to delay the start of a match, is 5 minutes going to make much difference? Come to think of it, I didn’t notice a Wolves mascot dancing around the pitch at any time…. Not they needed it. It seems I wasn’t the only one for whom it seemed like pre-season. Jol is still in his “experimental” (read: playing players out of position) stage. It’s early days admittedly and there may yet be hope for his grand plan but the fixtures computer has been kind and given us a chance to build a good foundation for the rest of the season. We should at least be playing our best players in their best positions. I’m quite sure my manager wouldn’t suddenly say to me tomorrow “Tell you what Tor, we’ve enough people in this department, why don’t you go and be an equities trader today? It’ll be fine, what could possibly go wrong?” Cue another stock market crash and collapse of the world economy….. But I digress. Sort it out Jol.
Wolves looked good though, didn’t they? Whether that’s because they are good or because we made them look good, or a combination of the two, I’m unsure. Matt Jarvis, with the exception of his dodgy corners, showed why Capello plucked him out of mid-table club obscurity to represent his country. And there clearly is some talent and pace in the squad. If it weren’t for their fans I’d wish them luck.
Ah yes. I went there. The fans. Note to supporters of football teams: when one of your players has taken out an opposition player and he’s laying on the ground receiving treatment, it is not acceptable for you to sing “you’re just a team full of fairies”, even disregarding the broken leg the same team sustained against your team in a previous season. Got that? Good.
So all in all it was a pretty rubbish day. Plus I was ill which never helps. But between the traffic, the temperamental radio signal, the dreadful performance by the boys in white, the score, the home fans etc etc it still won’t put me off and I’ll still trek halfway around the country (and Europe – yay!) to support my beloved Flumps. Although I do draw the line at the Ukraine. Sorry.
shut up and stop moanin u idiot…fulham is a shithole and ure moaning about our ground! We have ambition u have nothing…And ure team are full of fairies prik.
Your player went down as if he had been shot – and quickly recovered. As a fan (albeit a dreaded Wolves supporter) I am sick of seeing player theatrics. And as for your comments on Molineux…take a careful look around your ground next time you are at home. We are a proud club with proper supporters…maybe a little too working class though for you chaps from the Cottage.
Sorry Zamora broke his leg last season. Fair tackle, Henry didn’t receive a card. We also had a player have his leg broken last season by a dirty arshole named Steve Sidwell. An unncessary challenge in the last minute of the game. He did receive a yellow card but should have been red ! As they say ‘People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.’
I’m a fulham fan, and to be honest this article makes me embarrassed to support the same team as you…
Sunday was the third time I’ve been to the Molinuex, and in my opinion is one of the nicer grounds to visit. I have no idea what the f*ck you are on about.
And moaning about the wolves fans… At least they have a good vocal home support, which is much more than I can say about most of our fans that only go to games to impress their yuppie mates.
F*cling embarrassing….
If you read my piece again, I didn’t comment on the “dirty” tag of Wolves because actually I didn’t think the majority of the tackles were that bad and I thought you played well. I was commenting on that particular chant by the fans that I thought was unnecessary. I agree that Wolves’ home support is good and vocal, sorry I didn’t comment on that specifically.
And my comments about the ground are because it’s undergoing building work. When it’s done I’m sure it’ll be great but it’s less than ideal having only 3 stands open.
Blimey….
You realise the empty stand has been half-built in only three months, and will house 3700 fans as early as in September? Hopefully we can welcome you to our new, comfy 38000 seat stadium in a few years time, complete with two scoreboards and our famous old clock back in place (removed at present).
As you obviously don’t appreciate how our club is self-financing an assault on the top 10 with a starting eleven of only British and Irish players, whilst also building a new £16m stand without taking on debt, I hope you come back later and understand what fantastic work Wolves have been doing.
Lets get some facts straight Fulham fans…….
Clint Dempsey committed many more fouls than any Wolves player last season. The same player that has an amazing gravitational pull towards the floor anytime an opposition players goes near him
Danny Murphy received the same number of yellow cards as Karl Henry.
The only bad tackle Karl Henry made last season, he got sent off for and he’s not a dirty player but thanks to the BBC and a media witchhunt both him and our club were portrayed wrongly; as the fair play table demonstrates.
If you don’t like the stadium or town or fans for that matter then that’s your perogative but leave out the crap about chanting. Your player went down like he was shot(aka Dempsey style) yet was running back on a minute later……..is that level of cheating acceptable to you Fulham fans? It wasn’t even a foul or is the ref as stupid as Wolves fans?
I like Bobby Z and it was a shame he broke his leg but it was a fair tackle and you Fulham fans need to get over it.
Yes you are a bunch of fairies!
Works both ways – this isn’t a website for WWFC and those Wolves fans lurking around a Fulham websites need to be big enough to accept the fact that they might run into the occasional biased view rather than bleating about it
‘less than ideal having 3 only 3 stands open’ pray tell wtf is the club supposed to do when it is redeveloping the stadium? move to an out of town identikit retail park stadium? Sorry, you didn’t enjoy your day, but I trust you were OK once you had showered the northern grime off yerself.
What no score board????
Let me remind you then Wolves 2 Fulham 0
Silly boy.
As for the stands, we don’t want our ground to get old & decrepid, as per the cottage
This is hilarious. An angry little wolf pack having a go at Fulham. Henry deserved a red for his scissor tackle from behind on Zamora, a few weeks later he commited probably the worst foul in premier league history on that little Wigan player (perhaps aside from Roy Keane killing that kid). Given that MOTD and other such programmes only show snippets of games from teams like ours (we are at pretty much the same level, Fulham slightly higher than you at present but that may not last) and Danny Murphy was directly asked about aggression in the premier league its no wonder the media portrayed you as a dirty team. Thats what there was to show. Grow up and understand the media game. That said your performance at the cottage last year was without exception the dirtiest I had ever seen a top level team play football. Your ground will be nice but the author said that as for his trip having a stand closed did not improve the experience, whats to argue with that? And don’t have a go at the cottage, its beautiful. Come down and stroll by the river before sitting in our comfortable seats, you’ll really enjoy it. And the man who said that you are all too working class for us to appreciate you, do you not think that the protrayal of Fulham as a middle class team might be like the portrayal of Wolves as a dirty team? Do you not get how its the same processes labelling our teams so its easy for other fans to pck on something to hate about the opposition? Any team that doesn’t respect a player on the ground who has been hurt by a tackle is a disgrace to the game, I didn’t see the incident myself so I will reserve judgement but we are a clean team, thats why we win the fair play league so often so I don’t think anyone dived. You aren’t Arsenal, you don’t go and score while the oppenents player is injured so its not all bad but come on have some decency. Anyway, I like Wolves’ team, I like the way you play, I’m gutted we didn’t go in for O’hara and I think Doyle is fantastic. I also really like Mcarthy for his refreshing ‘no-nonsense’ way of talking to the media. Just accept that last season at the cottage we got our best player taken out for a season by your captain with a terrible tackle, if we did that to you there would be a grudge, just live with it, don’t exacurbate the animosity.
‘Henry deserved a red for his scissor tackle from behind on Zamora…’
You should move on from Henry’s tackle, it was a good challenge: http://soccer-portal.org/video/3070-karl-henry-tackle-on-bobby-zamora.html
Spot on – in your face Archibald Leitch
Great great comment by bemused fulham fan. WTF is this guy on?
I am a Wolves fan and would never spout that crap off on any Wolves board as I would be a little embarassed.
Very sad and pathetic review
Sorry bemused – us Fulham lot wouldn’t know anything about securing alternative facilities whilst a ground is being redeveloped… wtf
Hey Wolfos – not trying to knock that earnest self sufficiency thing you have going on – but the fact that you had £100m of investment from Hayward & Morgan to get you are now does maybe undermine your argument just a tad

Right on tinkler-bell
Right on tinkler-bell
Also take note Fulham fans that the commentator says that it was Another good challenge from Henry and that it was. Also have a look at Henry’s reaction, shows he is not a malicious player nor meant to break his leg, he stops playing himself to see if Zamora is ok then then calls over to the ref to stop the game immediately. Fair enough that one tackle on Gomez at Wigan was horrible, but when your a traditional style holding midfielder that does fly into challenges, if you time one wrong it will look awful and deservedly lead to a red card, even though looking at the challenge, Henry didn’t leap off the ground nor did he go in with both feet, just extremely mis-timed and very very late.
Ive read it again and you still slag our stadium off before you mention the redevelopment ‘I can think of better places to go than Molineux. Especially a half-built Molineux’, why is it not ‘ideal’ for you an away fan who sits in the stands opposite ?
Molineux with 2 stands alone and a pile of rubble would still look better than Craven Cottage and probably hold more people.
If you are being serious in that it was a bad tackle from Henry on Zamora then you clearly know very little about football, that fact is that Zamora was off balance & the full weight of his body was on his ankle thats why it snapped, very unfortunate for the lad, but nothing more.
Henry broke Zamora’s leg. He did so from coming into a tackle from behind/Zamora’s side and the ankle broke because Henry’s weight was on top of it. He might have got the ball but it was an irresponsible challenge that seriously injured Zamora. It was also in the context of a display of total thuggery from the rest of your team, where you lost in the end after Dembele scored a freekick after one of your centrebacks was eventually sent off, this does not help the perception of your team. If you’d played cleanly before and after the leg break people would have been much more willing to write it off as an accident but you didn’t. If Etuhu broke Doyle’s leg on Sunday you would have a really tough season coming up and I seriously doubt that you would defend the tackle that caused the injury. He proved against Wigan he was capable of terrible tackles and so Henry is the reason you got labelled a ‘dirty team’, not Murphy.
As I said you don’t know what you are talking about.
Watch again, fool.
You should be on here thanking us for the lesson you received at the weekend.
Shamone MF’s!
obviously craven cottage and fulham in general is not a shithole, many pundits and players consider it one of their favourite grounds in the country, and away fans always appreciate coming to the cottage, takes them back as they say. i personally have no problem with your stadium, its pretty standard prem league/championship stadium, hopefully this expansion gives it a bit more personality.
as for us having no ambition, thats also ridiculous. we have hired a manager with experience at top clubs such as hamburg and ajax. fair enough we may not have the ambition of a villa or a tottenham, but for you to say we have no ambition is ridiculous. I would say our clubs have similar ambitions, consolidate and progress.
as for our team being full of fairies, im not sure stephen hunt would agree sidwell is a fairy considering he reacted angrily to the fair tackle by sidwell, got up and then realised it was sidwell, and proceeded to shit himself.
im aware your comment was probably just to annoy and had no real meaning or malice within, but you really should articulate yourself better when talking to middle class fans of a middle class club.
i vote we end the wolves/fulham beef, its boring
What a whinging fairy you are!
Middle class Fulham, lol
Is that the same as third rate???
You only sign players that the big clubs in London don’t want & who are that desperate to stay in London is it wasn’t you lot it would be Brentford.
Middle class, utter bollox.
100m investment? Interesting, but I don’t know where you plucked that figure from
I think you missed my point, previous comments accused us of being a middle class club, so I was playing off that. I’m sorry if sarcasm confuses you. I should withhold sarcasm when conversing with football fans, most don’t understand. Anyway, simple mistake for you to make grace, don’t be too upset.
So every time a player makes a tackle, he’s to consider the laws of physics, accounting for his mass on top of the velocity and balance of the other player?
If you think that tackle on Zamora is anything other than brilliant (aside from the unfortunate break), you’re an idiot.
A lesson in a lack of class maybe…
Hayward spent well in excess of £70m of his personal finance on redeveloping their Molineux Stadium, writing off annual debts, and purchasing players for the club. He then sold control of the club to businessman Steve Morgan OBE for a nominal £10 fee, in exchange for a conditional £30m of investment in the club – happy days eh!
Well done, you win today’s ‘inability to read and understand basic sarcasm’ award, do you need help carrying the trophy you four fingered Wolverhampton inbred?
Inbred???
What a clown you are, I think you’ll find we all have 4 fingers, or perhaps that’s too many for you to count, if you are going to hurl insults around make sure you have the intelligence to do so.
There’s a good boy.
Gracie, for you to talk about intelligence is laughable. You should think before you type/talk/do anything. Of course that would probably hurt your head, so invest in some paracetemol first, or a shotgun, I personally have no preference.

Look like I’ve got you pleasant Fulham folk rattled.
Any way you are all boring me now.
Toodle pip!!!
‘Rattled’..? What a loser…
Thank god, I was just about to admit defeat to your superiority…
are you good looking? You type like you would be good looking, with the ‘Toodle pip!!!’ comment. Very sexy gracie, very nice.
I wish you werent leaving now
wolves fans get a lifee you can argue all day about whether or not henry actually wanted to kill zamora with this challenge or just put him in the hospital indefinitely, but it really doesn’t matter. it was last season.
and when you’re reading a fulham blog, don’t expect us to be nice about a team we don’t like. we have opinions.
grow up. get over it. and get off our message board
So you come on to a Fulham website, start having a pop at the club and then get surprised when people have a go at you back? You couldn’t make it up.
Now run along and have a wash, you probably need one living in your shithole of a city
enjoy your sour grapes, prick
gracie you never reply to me 🙁 major sadface
