Fulham have opened discussions with Andreas Pereira and his representatives about extending his contract at Craven Cottage, according to reports from Brazil.
Marco Silva considers the Brazilian international a key member of his first-team squad and wants to keep the 29 year-old midfielder despite continued interest from Palmeiras. Palmeiras, who finished second in Serie A last season, have made Pereira their primary transfer target and have already had a January bid for his services rejected by Fulham.
Their second bid – believed to be worth £20.5m – has also been rebuffed by the Cottagers, who have now taken the first steps in seeking to extend Pereira’s contract. The former Manchester United midfielder is open to extending his current Fulham contract, which expires next summer. Pereira captained Fulham for the first time as Silva’s side beat Watford 4-1 on Thursday to reach the FA Cup fourth round.
Good! Hopefully fans will put their agenda behind them and give every player who pulls on the white shirt their full support. The fans who were booing Pereira at the Cottage have no place at Fulham.
Hope we keep him
John and Cliff, you are both very welcome to your views/ opinions, AS IS EVERYONE ON THIS BOARD. If we think he is not a good player then that is our prerogative to say so. As for booing, not my cup of tea,but he has bought that on shelf.
er not shelf but himself.
You may have a point Zippa. However what I do not get is why a player like Periera, who helped the club progress from yo-yo team to a mid table side gets so much stick for playing so and so, and then other players which i do not have to name here out of respect get away with much worse showings. I honestly believe that Pereira is one of the better players technically in the squad. I for one was expecting much much more from ESR but I am still reserving judgement. Lukic was quite poor in his first season, now I cannot imagine our side without him. Let us support our players, we are not a huge club that can maybe afford to throw players to the side because of some issue. We need all hands on deck, Andreas is surely someone that can help us progress and hopefully reach the promised land of European qualification again.
@Simon YES! emphasizing ESR comment
And I also concur with @John. If you support Fulham then SUPPORT Fulham, booing your own player during a game is akin to cheering the other team. Period.
We are allowed to be frustrated and disappointed, of course, but come game time, supporting the players creates the energy and atmosphere for the team win; booing Andreas is pushing for Fulham to lose.
Totally agree about booing our own players. Never acceptable. But at the same time we should expect passion and commitment from everyone in a white shirt. Pereira has consistently underwhelmed this season. Whether its poor quality spot kicks or lazy through balls from open play, he is simply not as good as he thinks he is.
If he’s not adding anything to the team then is it not time to make way for someone who does?
Pereira was exceptional against Watford. Pity he can’t produce in the Premier League. Think Binksy sums it up well. As for all the Brazil rumpas, all I will say is there’s no smoke without fire. Andreas, make your mind up where your heart lies.
