Willian has confirmed his departure from Fulham in a post on Instagram this morning.
The Brazilian veteran rejected Fulham’s offer of a new contract and has been widely linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League. The former Chelsea and Arsenal winger made 67 appearances in two seasons at Craven Cottage, scoring ten goals.
Willian wrote:
“I would like to thank Fulham for a wonderful two years. It was wonderful to return to the Premier League and be a part of this special club. I have had incredible moments and this club will always be in my heart.
I would like to thank Tony Khan, the chairman and the Fulham board for all the respect and affection they have shown me [in] the last two years.
A very special thank you to our coach Marco Silva who showed me a lot of belief and gave me the confidence throughout the time we were together. I wish Fulham the best of luck in their upcoming challenges and hope I will get the chance to support the team live in the future.”
Brilliant servant for the club over the last couple of years but I did feel towards the end of last year he was visibility in decline.
Would have been a fantastic rotation option this year but no hard feelings
Aw, I am really disappointed that he had not signed for another year but understandably he wants to take a different opportunity. Will miss him
Big loss, would have been a great impact option from the Bench for another season. I have loved watching him play, he has been a different class. But agree, over the last 2 seasons there has been a decline. All the best for the future and thank you.
Great two seasons from him ,but time to move on from him as he is old and getting interested towards the end of the season!!
He will be missed, his technique on the ball, even at 35 were second to none. Time to move on, we wish him the best of luck in his two seasons left milking the arabs. On another note, how could Kalvin Phillips sign for Ipswich? Has Man City chosen where he goes on loan? There were rumoirs he might sign for us
Forget his footballing skills I’m sure we will all miss his quiet modesty. Always conducted himself with respect and humility. Good luck and thanks for gracing The Cottage for a couple of seasons, enjoyed having you in the team.
Totally agree with David C. Joy to watch but showing his age towards the end.
