Reports from Serbia suggest that Aleksandar Mitrovic only suffered a sprained ankle in Fulham’s win over Everton yesterday and will be fit to face Brentford next weekend.
A Mozzart Sport story claims that a scan earlier today delivered positive news for the striker, who had left Goodison Park in an orthopaedic boot and was pictured on crutches at Euston station last night after travelling back with Marco Silva’s side. Fulham’s talismanic striker fought through the pain of an impact injury to start the move that secured an opening day win on Merseyside, starting the move that led to Bobby Decordova-Reid’s winner seventeen minutes from time.
Still rumours persist about Saudi Arabia making an improved offer. If he is fit and his head is not tired again I would play Mitro from the start against Brentford on Saturday
As soon as he went down, he motioned to the bench to be subbed and the medical team had to encourage him to give it a minute and see if he could continue.
Old Mitro would have to be dragged off the pitch, he hates being substituted.
His mind is still on that move to Al Hilal and as much as we would all love him to stay I can’t see him being at the club when the window closes.
Mitro himself has not issued a statement on the subject and has remained remarkably quiet since his or someone on his behalf outburst. The possible transfer will not go away. In my opinion the club need to give the Saudis an ultimatum saying the £52 million fee must be met by Friday, otherwise he will not be available in this transfer window. If he goes we need time to try and find and decent replacement.
No way on earth will the club let him go if we can’t source a replacement and I assume that possibles have been identified. Crucially Marco knows where Mitro’s head is and whether we can and indeed should keep him. It wouldn’t surprise me if the deal is one more good season and you can then go next summer.
