Veteran winger Willian has signed a new contract with Fulham, the club have confirmed this evening.
The Brazilian international sparkled on his surprise return to England after cancelling his Corinthians contract to join Fulham following a successful trial last September. The former Chelsea and Arsenal winger rolled back the years, scoring five goals and adding six assists in thirty appearances, as the Whites finished tenth and reached the FA Cup quarter-finals on their return to the top flight.
The 34 year-old had originally rejected Fulham’s offer of a new deal with his short-term contract set to expire at the end of June but has agreed terms on a one-year extension. The winger is settled in London and rejected a more lucrative offer from Nottingham Forest to extend his stay with the Cottagers.
Willian told FFCTV tonight:
“I’m completely happy. Happy to sign one more year with Fulham. Happy to continue the work that I did last season with all my teammates and the whole Club. I think it’s a club that can do even better this season, so I’m happy to continue this amazing adventure.”
Good news but it should have been sorted months ago if Tony khan wasn’t such a Penny pinching fool , we keep missing out on new players because of him and his refusal to pay a fair fee we then end up with the players no other teams want.
A bit of good news at last This should have been sorted out much earlier, Maybe now we can get on with signings some players as we do have money available to spend. Please don’t let any more possible signing’s slip through the net by Penny pinching
Great news. Securing Willian and Robinson makes us much stronger immediately – hopefully Marco is next to sign on the dotted line. COYW!
Hallulia why did it take the club so long. Robinson also signed a new contract there the good news ends. Keeping hold of Palhinha all all costs is imperative. I will be interstering to see if him and Mitro get on the flight to America this week that might give us a clue. New signings seem pie in the sky ar the moment allmtalk no action yet. Not sure Loftus Cheek is worth his current salary and am far from convinced he has the character to play in a relegation struggle if it came to that. Who stays, who goes and who we sign in the next couple of weeks might give us some indication how the season is likely progress .
I think you mean Hudson-Odoi. At least I hope you do. God forbid that we’re considering buying Reuben Waste of Space.
We now have what was, at the end of last season, our strongest starting XI all signed up. There are obviously big gaps to fill on the subs bench and beyond, but keeping Palhinha and Mitrovic (who is probably the more difficult to replace) will be key.
What is the situation now with Kenny Tete? Last I heard he only had one year to go on his contract and was stalling on signing a new one.
