Marco Silva will mull over removing Aleksandar Mitrovic as Fulham’s penalty taker after the Serbian striker’s costly slip at St. James’ Park.

The former Newcastle number nine – who has already missed twice from the spot this season – converted from twelve yards but lost his footing at the crucial moment and the goal that would have put the Whites in front was ruled out as Mitrovic had touched the ball twice. An angry Silva raged at the referee’s failure to dismiss Dan Burn, who had pulled down Andreas Pereira in the area before the VAR intervened to award a penalty for a later incident, saw his side beaten at the death by Alexander Isak’s close-range header.

The Fulham head coach told his post-match press conference:

“We have time to talk and decide what we have to decide. What we are going to decide will be for me to decide. If Mitro keeps going, he will keep going. If not, it will be another [player] and we have enough good takers in our squad.”
