Fulham are considering a move for Derby midfielder Tom Lawrence, according to Teamtalk.
The website claims the Welsh international could prove a cut-price replacement for Fabio Carvalho, who has yet to sign a new deal at Craven Cottage as he enters the final six months of his current contract. Rams captain Lawrence has enjoyed an excellent season as Wayne Rooney’s side battle points deductions and financial uncertainty, scoring seven times in 23 league appearances as well as adding three assists.
An EFL statement yesterday revealed that Derby’s administrators still have to demonstrate that they can run the club as a going concern beyond the end of February and a fire sale of Pride Park assets cannot be ruled out. The 28 year old’s contract expires at the end of the season – and Derby may elect to cash in to raise crucial funds during the final days of the January transfer window.
Fulham would face fierce competition from several Premier League sides. Wolves, Brighton and Hove Albion, Burnley and Newcastle are known to be interested in Lawrence, who has scored 33 goals in 173 appearances since joining Derby from Leicester City in August 2017.
I think he would be a good signing but not a priority, why are we not looking for a central defender or 2 , I can’t understand the logic surely Silva must know it’s a central defender that we need.
What do we need a central defender for? We’ve got four who are plenty good enough for this division, and this is not the window to be signing players for next season.
Getting Lawrence would be a good deal. I have always rated him and he gives 100%
How do you know we aren’t looking at a central defender?
We can get away with the defenders we have now until the end of the season. I’m assuming Ream, Mawson and possibly Odio (god love home) will leave in the summer. Another attacking option right now would more or less cement out as champions and TL would be perfect
Winning promotion is fine but the team will need a sizeable restructure to stay in the premiership. The defence is good for the championship but nowhere good enough for the premiership as its been proven. The gap between the championship and the premiership is massive and getting bigger.
All these comments about a revamp for next season already. Firstly it’s a road we keep going down and clearly it doesn’t work. Building a team like Silva has out of players that were at Parker’s disposal goes to show the measure of the man. We don’t need to destroy the team mechanics, we don’t need anymore mercenary loan signings. This team is so much more together than anything Parker had. Enjoy what we have, a record breaking TEAM that deserves to be lauded and not destroyed
