Marco Silva says he has seen no signs that young Fulham star Fabio Carvalho has been affected by recent contract speculation.
The teenager, whose current Craven Cottage contract expires at the end of this season, has been linked with a move to the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid as well as several leading Premier League clubs after taking the Championship by storm. But Silva says such speculation is part of the modern game and believes it hasn’t hindered the precocious playmaker in recent weeks.
The Fulham head coach told his press conference this morning:
“All the speculation is for him to deal with. He’s a professional football player and he’s mature for his age. If he’s getting all this speculation he’s doing something that is good.
I don’t know what’s happened out of then training ground with the people who are backing him – but I hope everyone stays on the same page, and advise Fabio in the right way. He’s a young player who needs it. But I’m not seeing on a daily basis any different to the player he was at the beginning of the season – hungry, and happy to enjoy what he does.”
Think he’s good as gone, nice young lad who’s done very well,. But we all know what most agents are like make a few £ for themselves , taking money out of game. Hope he does not get lost in a big clubs youth team
I think ‘unaffected’ should be ‘affected’?
Yes, thanks John. The perils of typing in haste!
I don’t understand why he would sign a contract. I wouldn’t. Out of contract at the end of season, he can name his salary and sign on fee. I mean, don’t get me wrong, it would be nice if he does sign….just saying I can’t see why that’s in his interests. He can still sign with Fulham at the end of the season.
I don’t agree with you Dave, if he lets his contract run out at the end of this season we will lose him for sure and we won’t get the fee he is really worth, he is too good a player to lose so come on Fulham and get him signed to a new long term contract whatever the cost.
I agree with you John that it is in Fulham’s interest he signs for sure. That’s definitely true. My point is my guess is his advisors are telling him not to as it isn’t in his interests. Why tie yourself down to a Fulham salary when you know mega money is coming in 8 months time?
I guess the point I’m making is if he doesn’t sign then don’t blame the club. He holds the cards not Fulham
