Larkeche nets another PL2 nomination

Fulham full back Ziyad Larkeche has been nominated for the Premier League 2 player of the month award for the second month in succession.

The French left-back was in the running for the October gong after a series of superb performances and his consistency has impressed the judging panel once again. Larkeche made two goals for Steve Wigley’s side, who are currently eight games unbeaten and have an eleven point lead at the top of the second division table, and has been part of a miserly back four that conceded just one goal in the course of the month.

The French under-20 international is joined on the shortlist by Arsenal striker Folarin Balogan, West Ham playmaker Sonny Perkins, Derby’s Luke Plange, Jesuran Rak-Sakyi of Crystal Palace, the Norwich City left winger Jon Rowe, Southampton’s Thierry Small and Spurs midfielder Harvey White.

Larkeche on U23s player of month shortlist

Fulham’s French full back Ziyad Larkeche has been shortlisted for the PL2 Player of the Month Award for October.

The teenager has been in sensational form for Steve Wigley’s side this season as the young Whites have surged to the top of the table. Larkeche has been a key part of a miserly defence that kept two clean sheets as they went unbeaten throughout the last month but also demonstrated a more adventurous side to his game, scoring in the victory over Nottingham Forest and setting up a couple of goals in the 3-0 defeat of Reading.

Larkeche has been nominated alongside West Ham defender Jamal Baptiste, Manchester United’s winger Anthony Elanga, Spurs wide man Dilan Markanday, Arsenal midfielder Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand, Aston Villa’s Aaron Ramsey and the Southampton centre back Dynel Simeu.

Fulham sign French left back

Fulham have this afternoon confirmed the signing of young French full back Ziyad Larkeche from Paris Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.

Larkeche had been targeted by a number of European sides after deciding to leave the French giants this summer when his existing contract expired. The 17 year-old had become the youngest player to appear for PSG in the UEFA Youth League and helped the Parisian giants’ under-19 side reach the quarter finals of the Coupe Gambardella.

Larkeche is delighted to have finalised his move to London. He told Fulham’s official website:

“I am over the moon with this move. Joining a traditional and historic club like Fulham is a dream come true. From the first sight, the club really convinced me that it was the best option for me so I look forward to giving my best for the team. I would like to thank the club and my agents, Gold Kick, for this massive opportunity.

Fulham academy director Huw Jennings said:

“We’re absolutely delighted for Ziyad to be joining us. We’ve been looking out for a talented attacking minded left-back and feel this signing is a major coup. He will initially compete in our Under-23 team and hopefully he can move forward from there.”
