Fulham’s injury crisis appears to have worsened with Welsh winger Harry Wilson set to miss Saturday’s trip to Newcastle United after missing training for the past two days.

Marco Silva shared during his pre-match press conference that Wilson sustained ‘a small injury’ whilst on international duty with Wales and, while he played through the pain against Arsenal last weekend, has been struggling this week. He could yet feature on Tyneside should he come through training unscathed tomorrow but the Whites would be unlikely to risk a key player who has had a recent history of injury struggles.

Wilson and Joachim Andersen, who injured his hamstring in the narrow defeat at the hands of the league leaders, have joined Antonee Robinson, Samuel Chukwueze and Rodrigo Muniz on the sidelines at Motspur Park. The latter three remain out of contention for the trip to St. James’ Park.

Silva told his press conference this afternoon:

“Wilson got a knock with the national team, a small issue. He made the squad to play against Arsenal, but let’s see if he’s going to be ready or not. Joachim Andersen, as we expected and as I mentioned after the match, has a muscle injury. It’s not so serious, but he is going to be out and not available for the Newcastle match, Antonee Robinson neither, as well. Chukwueze still out, Rodrigo out.”

Kenny Tete, Tom Cairney and Sasa Lukic should be available for selection, however. The Fulham boss added:

“Tom Cairney is going to be in contention. The injury is nothing special as we suspected. Saša Luki? is going to be in contention. The response from him has been very good … [he is a] top professional, top guy. He takes care of himself in a top way. He trained today again, let’s see how he’s going to be tomorrow.”
