Marco Silva says Fulham’s injury crisis has ‘started to look a little better‘ since the Whites’ lucky League Cup escape at Wycombe Wanderers.
The Cottagers’ head coach had to substitute striker Raul Jimenez midway through the second half at Adams Park after the Mexican veteran suffered a recurrence of the injury he sustained after scoring at Villa Park earlier in the month. Jimenez could still lead the line against his old club Wolverhampton Wanderers at Craven Cottage tomorrow afternoon – if he passes a fitness test.
Silva told his pre-match press conference at Motspur Park this afternoon:
“[His participation is still in doubt. We are going to decide with him tomorrow morning. He has the same problem that he got against Villa. There was a knock there that he felt again [at Wycombe] … not as painful as the Villa game, it’s getter better. Tomorrow. we are going to decision if he’s going to start the game or not.”
Several senior players have returned to full training in the last two days.
“After the Carabao Cup game, things started to look a little bit better, I have to say. Of course, I like to have the younger players around ourselves, but it’s much better to see the senior players around in good numbers in our sessions. It’s been completely different the last two days – some of them, after a long absence, started to train with the team.”
About players that we are sure can be out or in: Joachim Andersen is going to be in, definitely. [Antonee] Robinson still out. Emile Smith Rowe is going to be in contention for the game as well, Harry Wilson, too. The other players we have to analyse, like Rodrigo [Muniz], like [Samuel] Chukwueze as well, but it looks like they could be in contention for the game, too.”
