How is it 23 years since Fulham fought back from 2-0 to topple Tottenham Hotspur at Loftus Road thanks to a superb stoppage-time winner from Sylvain Legwinski?
Dan’s report might stand the test of time – we’ll let you be the judge – but I’m certain those of us who were there all have stories about that special night when Jean Tigana’s conjured up a classic comeback from nowhere.
The 26-minute highlights will warm your heart on this miserable morning:
You’re very cheeky, Chloe. I hope it does stand the test of time – even if I might write it differently now.
This was one of my favourite Fulham games. The only thing wrong was the venue. There were two Spurs supporters sitting in my row in what was then the Ellerslie Road stand. It was obvious they weren’t Fulham fans but they celebrated Tottenham’s second goal with such vigour it was going to go off.
Brilliantly they left in a huff shaking my hand at 2-2. What I’ve given to have been next to them when Monica went through in stoppage time.
I still don’t know how we came back from the dead that night. We looked absolutely did and buried. From memory, I think Malbranque came on at half time and turned the tide a bit but nobody saw it coming in the Loft where I was. Don’t think I got home until about 3am.
That was some side and I still can’t quite fathom how it fell apart for Jean Tigana. We looked so good in the early weeks of that season after winning the InterToto.
