Marco Silva urged Fulham fans to be patient with record signing Kevin – insisting the Brazilian winger will need time to adapt to the stresses and strains of English football after coming off with a shoulder injury in the Whites’ underwhelming League Cup victory over Cambridge United.
Early reports claimed that Kevin had dislocated his shoulder after being brilliantly tackled by Liam Bennett in the closing stages of the match, but Silva confirmed during his post-match press conference that the former Shakhtar Donetsk star had simply injured his shoulder.
The Fulham boss said:
“Kevin is in a process. He arrived 23 days ago. The first ten days [during the international break] he was training with eleven players here. You can imagine how long it will take. He’s very talented, he has something different in terms of profile. He needs time to understand his team-mates and understand the kind of football he’s going to play. Football is different here to in other countries. He knows he has strong competition in the wide areas of the pitch. The more minutes he has, the more he is going to adapt.
Speaking specifically about the winger’s injury that saw him substituted by Harry Wilson with three minutes to play, Silva added:
“Let’s see what’s going to happen. He kept feeling the pain there [in his shoulder].”
Lets Hope is nothing serious, Just our luck
Exactly why leaving the transfer business to the last day is such a poor option. We have very good players who, with 7 games played, have not had chance to adapt
