Marco Silva revealed Antonee Robinson is getting closer to making a first-team return after playing a behind-closed doors friendly last Sunday.

The American international hasn’t featured since having knee surgery over the summer but Silva told his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s meeting with Brighton that the full back will be contention to play some part in one of Fulham’s next three matches.

“We have good signs from him. Last Sunday, we played a behind-closed-doors game after the Brighton game, to give some minutes to some players [and] Jedi was one of them. Every time we have a chance in this period, we are going to do it. From Sunday to [next] Saturday, we play three games.”

Silva praised Calvin Bassey for deputising for Robinson and the injured Ryan Sessegnon at left back against Brighton last weekend – but believes his side loses something in the final third without an attack-minded full back in the starting line-up.

“Calvin was brilliant, fantastic performance from him. But, he’s not a LB that can be there in the last line of the defensive back from the opposition’s side.”

Both Robinson and Sessegnon will have fitness tests before Silva selects his side to take on Manchester United at Craven Cottage tomorrow.
