Marco Silva says he is hoping Harry Wilson has not suffered a serious injury after being substituted having gone down with a foot problem during last night’s League Cup victory over Bristol City.

The Welsh international, who operated in the number ten position as the Whites eased past the Robins with two early goals, went down just before the hour mark holding his foot and, despite wanting to return to the field of play, was immediately substituted as a precaution.

Silva told his post-match press conference:

“Let’s see in the next few hours, or days. Let’s hope it’s nothing serious because it was the same foot and the same area as his bad injury last season. Fingers crossed that it’s nothing really serious.”
