Marco Silva is keeping Coventry City waiting for Martial Godo after the Championship club made an offer for the Fulham winger last week.

The Whites head coach handed the 22 year-old his first-team debut in the League Cup at Crawley Town three years ago and the Ivory Coast under-23 international has gone on to make six senior appearances for Fulham, including playing in a pair of Premier League games last season. He shone at Wigan Athletic on loan during the 2023/24 campaign and went back to the Brick Community Stadium to start against the Latics in last season’s FA Cup fourth round win.

The Sky Blues, who thrashed Queens Park Rangers 7-1 as they celebrated gaining full ownership of the CBS Arena yesterday, are one of a number of Championship sides interested in the former Dartford and Margate winger but Silva is waiting to see whether the Cottagers can bring in any wingers in the final days of the transfer window.

The Portuguese head coach hopes that Godo’s development is not hindered by other developments – as it was last season when the deadline day sale of Jay Stansfield saw a proposed loan fall through. Silva told his pre-match press conference:

“Last season we had a plan for him. In [August 2024] to go out on loan, to get some senior minutess after his [previous loan] spell with Wigan. It was a moment for him to have Championship football. But because of different circumstances, it didn’t happen in August. “We will take a decision, related with probably the players that come in, or not. We are just delaying something that is going to be better if it happens, let’s see if we have the time to do it.”
