Reports in Brazil suggest that Palmeiras have revived their longstanding interest in bringing Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira back to his homeland.

The 29 year-old angered Marco Silva by publicly discussing the possibility of moving away from Craven Cottage last season. After the former Manchester United midfielder rejected a new contract, Fulham made him available for transfer this summer – but so far no club has met their valuation, which has been dropped significantly since they rejected an offer worth up to £16.5m from Palmeiras in January.

The Brazilian was the subject of an initial enquiry from Palmeiras during this transfer window, according to Nosso Palestra, but the discussions with Fulham and Pereira’s representatives did not continue as the Brazilian outfit are not able to spend expansively having already signed Vitor Roque. Nosso Palestra claims that Pereira, who is under contract with Fulham until next June, has not ruled out a move away – especially as he was an unused substitute as the Whites drew 1-1 at Brighton and Hove Albion in their first fixture of the season last weekend.

Brazilian journalist Andre Hernan claims that Palmeiras haven’t given up on signing Pereira, who is desperate to make the Brazilian World Cup squad next summer. The attacking midfielder has made 119 appearances in three years at Fulham, scoring ten times, but is in danger of being usurped by Emile Smith Rowe and teenager Josh King in the number ten position.
