Fulham forward Rodrigo Muniz is ‘pushing’ for a move to Atalanta, according to Sky Italia’s Gianluca di Marzio.
Di Marzio’s latest dispatch that the Whites have not yet agreed to sell the Brazilian striker, but that ‘relentless’ negotiations are ongoing. He claims that the 24 year-old wants to move to Bergamo and actively seeking a move to the Champions’ League qualifiers.
Muniz has been valued at £50m by Fuham, who have rejected bids from Leeds United, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United this summer. Atalanta, who have made the former Flamengo forward their number one target to replace Mateo Retegui, believe they can reach that figure with a deal that includes performance related add-ons.
Should the transfer go through it will leave just Raul Jimenez as a recognised senior striker in Marco Silva’s squad – with Fulham’s Premier League season getting underway at Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon.
A lot of critics will point to this as the final nail in the coffin for this summer’s transfer strategy. I agree timing is poor, but £50m is incredibly good value for Muniz (if we get it) and IF it allows us to get Kevin and Pepi + a central midfielder, it’s a no brainer.
Yes, I agree that it should have all been sorted weeks ago but there is still time…
If he really does want to go let him. Don’t want players that are not committed to FFC!
Why not give him a new contract and pay him a decent comparative wage to the other players.
Whatever happens play hardball and do not accept less than 50 million. Very worrying only being left with one main striker. A 33 year old has been in not the answer
if we get anything above £35m for him let him go. We don’t need another sulker in dressing room.
Again with the clickbait… As of yet, no credible sources are supporting this. Let’s use our critical thinking skills before we panic. If earlier in the window, they didn’t accept higher bids from Leeds, what would change now? Say what you will about the Khans, but both the Mitrovic and Palhinha sagas showed they are more than capable of holding out for desired fees despite pressure. So deep breaths everyone…
What concern me is not Muniz leaving for a 45 million fee but having no replacement I concur a 33 years old misfit is not the answer and hope the club do not go ahead in signing another pensioner, we need a younger player with something to prove
IF this is credible I still wouldn’t sell unless it has Marco’s total backing. We would certainly lose out manager as well within a year.
Pay him more develop him and if necessary have a proper strategy to sell for £70+ in 2-3 years
NO sell him for £50m no less.He blows hot and cold over a season.Get that money invested in new young players. I did hear that Jamie Vardy was seen at Motspur Park this week.
If he genuinely wants to go just get as much as you can and don’t sell to a Premier League rival. Sorry Leeds. Presumably his motivation to leave is not driven by wanting to play for Brazil. Pereira has managed to do that while playing for lowly Fulham. I assume the lure of playing in the Champions League is behind it, in which case there is nothing much we can do about it. We have been in this situation many times before. The old Catch 22 applies. You can’t either attract or keep the best players if you’re not in a European competition, and you can’t qualify for Europe without the best players. PSR has just increased the stranglehold of the top teams. Even Newcastle with all their oil money are finding it hard to gatecrash into the ‘elite’. Who wants to support a club that wins every week? How tedious! If that’s all you want just go and defect to the boys in blue down the road.
Concur with Ben and others . If rumours true , and he himself wants to go ( sure his agent pushing hard ) and we can get say £45 million , let’s go for it and Let’s reinvest … Pepe , Chukwueze ( RW) , Zinchenko ( LB/ DCM) , Nelson or better Kevin (LW) .. and move on out Traoré .. If this happened by close of window and keep within Financial Limits – Khan will be turned from villan into hero for many doubters . Who cares if it’s late .. we have fully functional good squad ( great work keeping the squad and brining in the youth of the summer ) and all these new players above will all be match fit just some team adjustment . But let’s see .. maybe it’s all misplaced optimism . COYW
