Rodrigo Muniz said he was ‘confident, happy and prepared to play more’ after scoring a stoppage-time equaliser to earn Fulham a point at Brighton and Hove Albion this afternoon.

The Brazilian striker has been heavily linked with a move to Atalanta over the past fortnight but he came off the bench to rescue a point for the Whites with virtually the last kick of the game at the AMEX Stadium.

Speaking after the final whistle to FFCTV, Muniz said:

“It felt very good. I am very happy to score a goal and start the season scoring goals. Let’s go to Sunday. I’m confident and I’m happy. It is more important to be happy. I’m prepared to play more. When you are confident, it is easier to say, ‘Okay, it’s my time. It’s time and I’m going to score now.’ It happened again! To be a good striker, you need to be ready inside the box. You need to sharp. Yeah, it was a good goal.”

Muniz celebrated his equaliser by holding a Fulham scarf above his head in front of the away fans – and admitted this wasn’t one of his pre-planned celebrations.

“My celebration was in the moment because when we score in the last minute, it’s always a different time. I was emotional and very happy in front of the Fulham fans. I love them!

It is always difficult to play here. Brighton is a big club. They have good players. We came here to win. We didn’t win, but we have one point. Now, we have to go to the next game.”
