Rodrigo Muniz asked to left out of Fulham’s final pre-season friendly against Eintracht Frankfurt, according to Italian sports newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
That development has increased Atalanta’s optimism that they can conclude a deal to sign the Brazilian striker as a replacement for last season’s Serie A top scorer Mateo Retegui. Gazzetta claims that Muniz, whom Fulham told the Bergamo club was not for sale last week, trained at Motspur Park on Saturday morning before the Whites beat Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 at Craven Cottage in the afternoon.
Gazzetta also suggests that the La Dea still believe they can sign Muniz for £35m plus add-ons – some £15m below Fulham’s valuation. The Whites have rejected bids from Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur this summer for the striker, who has 26 goals in 97 games since signing from Flamengo for £6.8m in August 2021.
Give him a decent new contract now or at least like other clubs stick to 50 million transfer fee which is not negotiable which is exactly the way Brentford, Brighton and Bournemouth conduct their business. we are becoming a soft touch
Not sure I would take Italian media at its word.
So we’re off loading a very promising young centre forward and replacing with a 33 year old has been that nobody wants. Brilliant business Fulham. The Khans have turned our beautiful club into corporate entertainment venue more like a decent restaurant than a quality football club. They need to and damn quick
Did he not play the morning game against Frankfurt? Which would mean both strikers getting 90 mins on Saturday.
Like Finn I thought I’d read he featured in the morning game.
Nonetheless this has been the most lacklustre pre season I can recall even by normal TK standards. Why does it feel like the last couple of years of Fayed. Doesn’t make sense given the money spent on the new sports club and restaurant overlooking the Thames
Why are many so ready to believe sad report remotely negative about FFC! ITs not journalism it’s clickbait churnalism! And the Khans should be thanked for FFC being where it is: if you’d started supporting the club for decades before the end of the 20th Century, yeah you might feel a bit disappointed with the lack of movement so far, but compared to when we had to move to Loftus Rd or where we we before Jimmy Hill rescued us you’d realize how well of we are right now!
Apparently Muniz and Robinson as well as other 1st team squad players played in the morning game to give them all 90 minutes
Played on Saturday AM so this is another gutter press non story, but if they offer £50mil we should snap their hands off
Hi Steve D
My comments just before yours. I first went in 1958 sitting on my dads shoulders and I fully remember the next 50 years.
That doesn’t prevent me recognising the gulf that now exists for the haves which currently includes us and the rest. The squad we have is good and the manager gets the maximum one can expect I believe BUT we are missing a real opportunity this transfer window if we don’t add 3-4 preferably young good players to compliment what we have. Mr Khan has my full admiration for his support of both the team and the ground development. Everyone however has their opinion I’m glad you’ve been able to express yours
The Khans have done a great job at Fulham and put their money where there mouth is. Dad now has very little involvement it is unfortunately Tonys baby. My issue with them is no getting contracts sorted out sooner Muniz should have been resolved some time ago. If we were to let him go I concur with John W and play hardball like some other clubs, and demand a minimum of 50 million. In any event we do not want a 33 year old replacement
Rodrigo is on his way, it depends on who we get in to replace. We need two bac more forwards now. A left back. Two midfielders. We are buying a ticket to bottom 3 with Brentford on this showing.
Would not listen to all this fake news. Berge was on his way out reported over Summer . Nothing . Everyone keeps second guessing what Silva wants and thinks . Fan base is over negative – desperate for Tete to stay , he stayed , for TC to stay he stayed , for youth to get the long term contracts and best of three got them , we called desperately for a good back up keeper we got him and no one really appreciating it and what a bargain ! We um an uh over Nelson – but we criticize Khan for not making the deal , ( well maybe he is trying to get a better deal ) , criticisms about Zinchenko ( “gunners reject” ) hey but maybe we might just need him so good on the raidar . It goes on an on ! We are not loaded like the big clubs and we are not being ripped apart like those around us . The Khan’s have not really failed to deliver with maybe exception of totally overspending on return to premiership and putting too much belief in Whining Parker . It’s dam difficult to spend wisely and effectively. Forcing prices down through delay and spreading the net wide might just be the best option for Fulham . … COYW
How on earth could we think of replacing Muniz with a 33 year old has been it just goes to show TK hasn’t got a clue.
Except he did play earlier the same day.
Well said Pezz some Fulham fans believe everything they hear or read in the media, I just wish FFC all the best for the season COYW.
Non-story. He was in the behind-closed-doors friendly.
Pezz brilliantly put have been a fan since 1960 and yes some mistakes have been made, But were our fantastic club, the Khans could not have spent like MAF in transfer market if they wanted to because of FFP . But have put there money into club, and have been the best owners of the club since I’ve been a fan by a long way, but I am very thankful for Jimmy Hill and the Muddymen for saving club in the 80s
I think someone is pulling our leg. To sell him would be bad, to replace him with a 33 year old would be even badder, and to accept less than the £50 million price tag would be down and out lunacy.
Taking in all the analysis, justifications and opinions you can’t get away from the fact that it has been a very disappointing window.
The transfer market, like it or not, is where it is and the simple fact is you have to steadily improve and renew your squad to survive.
Does anyone think that our squad, considered thin last season, will robust and resilient enough to stay in the PFL for another season?
I for one would relish a rich Arab to come in and buy us up that would be the next step to progression for my fantastic club I’ve been going to since 1960 while we are still in the premier we are worth a lot of money also being the oldest league side in London can only add to the premier payment this club is worth the khans have spent a lot but for me not enough in the right places so to push on we need that rich no money is a problem sugar Dady COYW
