Reports from Spain suggest that Real Mallorca would like to sign Fulham centre Jorge Cuenca.

Marco Silva appeared to rule out Cuenca’s departure last month in an interview with Portuguese television after reports in the Spanish press claimed that the 25 year-old was initially ‘homesick’ and then seeking further first-team football. Cuenca was known to have been disappointed to have only played 12 games in his first season at Craven Cottage after signing from Villarreal last summer, but has since reiterated that he wants to stay and fight for his place.

Ultima Hora discloses that Mallorca are looking for another centre back before the start of the Spanish season and the club’s director of football, Pablo Ortells, is a big fan of Cuenca’s. But Fulham’s reluctance to sell is just one of the roadblocks to a potential deal. Mallorca would also be unlikely to be able to match the defender’s salary at Fulham, which makes this story something of a non-starter unless something changes.
