Josh King told TNT Sports that he thought he had scored ‘a perfectly good goal’ to give Fulham the lead in the SW6 derby at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.
King’s superb strike was ruled out for a questionable foul against Rodrigo Muniz on Trevoh Chalobah and the talented teenager tried to put into words his disappointment at seeing his first Fulham goal ruled out after the final whistle. Chelsea went on to win 2-0 – and King told Becky Ives:
“It’s a hard feeling to describe, I think. Obviously, scoring that elation with the team around me, was one of the greatest feelings I’ve felt … hopefully it will be counted next time! Obviously it was a tough decision. I think it was a perfectly good goal, but that’s not much you can do. We just have to try and pick ourselves up and fight for the next seventy or eight minutes.
I feel like that’s just a part of being a professional and obviously there’s going to be decisions that go against us and you have to bounce back. Obviously, it was a tough one to take – to score and then, going into the break having conceded, was a difficult one. We just have to bounce back, really. It’s all we can do. We can only control the controllables.
He’s a really passionate person and that sort of fires us up as well. We tried to work really hard for each other. It was a difficult one to take today, because I think maybe we deserved more from the game, but it is what it is. Hopefully, we bounce back in two weeks time.

Dan, Raul was not on the pitch then. It’s easy to make that mistake when the steam is coming out of your ears, with the injustice of that display by the incompetent Robert Jones.
Correction: It was Rodrigo Muniz who was deemed to have fouled Trevoh Chalobah. Raul wasn’t on the pitch at the time.
Thanks Anton – I’ve corrected that mistake now.
