Fulham have resumed discussions with Arsenal over another loan spell at Craven Cottage – after Shakhtar Donetsk winger Kevin said he wasn’t interested in moving to SW6.
The Daily Mirror’s Ryan Taylor reports that the Whites put their summer-long talks with the Gunners over a second successive loan spell for Nelson on loan in order to pursue a permanent deal for Shakhtar’s young Brazilian winger. But the Ukrainian outfit rejected Fulham’s £35m bid and the 22 year-old speedster was not interested in signing for the Cottagers.
Nelson, who made twelve appearances for Marco Silva’s side before succumbing to hamstring injury last December, was keen to return to Craven Cottage but Taylor details concentrate interest in the winger from other Premier League clubs. Roma have also tabled an enquiry with Arsenal and Nelson’s representives. Fulham had hoped to secure a second loan with an option to buy – but the Gunners are keen to sell 25 year-old and may entertain offers from elsewhere as a sale of an academy graduate would strengthen their PSR position.
Fulham have no transfer strategy just random daily targets!
This one is getting annoying here!! Get this one over the line
Calm down! It’s not like buying a used car. We’ll be fine.
The issues we are having might be due to the fact that the calibre of player Silva wants doesn’t want to come to a club with no European football and will turn us down in favour of interest from those that do have it! We are only on the cusp of qualifying and may not succeed. Those same players may not succeed in securing a move to a club with European football. We have been successful in attracting players with something to prove and therefore, not necessarily preoccupied with European football. So we’re kind of between a rock and a hard place! We can’t the calibre of player Marco wants to get us into the European spots until we get into the European spots!
I have to laugh at so called Fulham fans when it comes to our transfer stategy, it is the was the operate every season so to get frustrated by it is really stupid?
Steve D is correct. We have been rejected a few times this season and season before as frustrating as it is for fans and Marco. Getting up to the next level is difficult, often you see us mentioned with players that the big clubs want so we do try. But we need a director of football and a system that can find young unknown talent not easy. As for Nelson. Would be silly to take him unless it was loan with option or obligation after he played 25 games
We do not want to panic about Nelson. With this horrendous injury record signing him without his proving his fitness is very dodgy, pay a loan transfer fee of 2 million with the option to buy if he stays fit
When we see direct quotes from Kevin either denying or confirming then I would reserve judgement.
I’m totally aware how we sit on the food train, that being said, I do think that we need a proper director of football strategy and guidance like Brighton and Brentford have-which will enable us to bridge the gap as best as much as possible. Otherwise we will have this farce every year regardless whoever’s the manager!
Agree we need a director of football also we need to get rid of Macintosh.
Waste of space, l would like know what he does.
It’s been the same story over the past few seasons…… when ch is a good thing right ? We’ve consistently improved over the last few years and, whikst frustratibg, Id rather be slow in the market but recruit well (whilst keeping key players!). COYW
When oh when will the board learn the if you leave it close to the end you will only get what other clubs don’t want.
Macintosh is finance manager has nothing to do with who we by just puts the financial part together
He does have influence over increasing ticket prices. Pricing out the next generation of fans.
It would be madness to buy Nelson with his injury record. The only deal we should agree is loan with option (not obligation) to buy, or at most, obligation based how many games he starts – and finishes, without injury!
