Fulham are considering a move for FC Basel winger Philip Otele as they struggle to reach agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk over the possible signing of Brazilian winger Kevin, according to various reports this afternoon.

The Whites are keen to supplement Marco Silva’s squad with more wide options before the end of the summer transfer deadline. Give Me Sport reports that the Cottagers sent scouts to watch the 26 year-old, rumoured to be available for around £12.2m, during Basel’s 1-1 draw against FC Copenhagen in the Champions’ League on Tuesday night.

The Nigerian winger, who began his career with Teesside University, only moved permanently to Basel this summer having enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Swiss Super League side. He can play on either flank or as a centre forward and helped Basel win the Swiss league and cup double last season, scoring nine goals in 29 games. The Whites could face competition from Eintracht Frankfurt for Otele’s signature, with the Bundesliga outfit weighing up whether to make an offer.
