Fulham have rekindled their interest in AC MIlan winger Samuel Chukwueze and Craven Cottage looks the most likely destination for the Nigerian international, according to reports from Italy.
The Whites came close to completing a deal for the 26 year-old wide man in January having agreed a fee with Milan, but the transfer failed to beat the clock on deadline day. Chukwueze, who has been deemed surplus to requirements by Massimiliano Allegri, has struggled in two seasons at the San Siro – making 71 appearances, scoring eight goals and adding six assists.
The former Villarreal winger is interested in plying his trade in the Premier League and Fulham have edged ahead of Beskitas and Fenerbahce, according to Calciomerceto. The Rossoneri are looking to recoup as much of the £17m they paid the Yellow Submarine, but the Cottagers would prefer a loan with an option to buy as they assess the options for Marco Silva to strengthen his squad.
The pacey winger was a huge hit in Spain, helping Villarreal win the Europa League in 2021, and scored 37 goals in 207 appearances. Chukwueze, who has scored seven goals in 45 senior internationals for the Super Eagles, is considered an alternative to Reiss Nelson. The Arsenal wide man spent last season on loan at Craven Cottage and the clubs are said to be close to concluding a deal for the 25 year-old to build on his twelve games and two goals before an untimely hamstring injury ended his season in December.
Which one do they want, is it a ploy just to get Nelson no terms they want get one done pay the 17m or loan with obligation if he’s not worth that on today’s prices he’s not worth having. As for Nelson I like him but been going on to long his injury record is a worry so if Arsenal playing hard ball drop it
Uh uh special offer wil com
Need to weigh up whether Nelson’s injury record is better than losing another player to the African Nations Cup along with Iwobi and Bassey.
I agree but lets get a move on and sign one or the other. Prefer Nelson however his injury record is very worrying especially with an obligation to buy
He is not an alternative to Nelson. Nelson is as good as done Fulham are looking to sign both players.
Nelson if definitely coming just sorting out terms and conditions of the deal. Samuel Chukwueze will only come if Traore goes to Notts Forest which I think would be good business, pure profit and brings the age of the squad down, the only downside is as already stated we would then lose 3 players to AFCON.
Think we have enough cover for the African cup of we lose 3 players think Nelson is to injury prone and still learning his trade
Why not both ? Chukwueze on the right (where he plays in Milan) interchanging with Wilson and Nelson on the left ( where he played did us before ) interchanging with Iwobi. These are both in mid twenties , both with great potential to improve .COYW
Well done TK. How on earth do you expect Marco to extend his contract now he knows that he will get no backing from you. Towards the end of last season you must have known what the budget would be for summer signings. When the window opened you should have told Marco he had x amount to spend and let him do the shopping. I suppose once you have driven him out of the club you will want to take over the managers role with your vast knowledge of the game!
