Fulham full back Kenny Tete wants to ‘push for more success’ after putting pen to paper on a new three-year contract at Craven Cottage.
The Dutch international told FFCTV he was delighted to commit his future to the Cottagers:
“I’m really happy, it took a while! I’m really happy! I’m very relieved, I’m happy that I’ve signed – for myself and for my family, for everyone. I hope I can give more for the fans! [It could be] nine years [at Fulham]. I wouldn’t have expected that before but obviously after the first year I knew already that this was a family club, a special club, where I can develop.
“If you look at the team that won the Championship, the whole journey [to get] where we are, I want to be part of that group. Hopefully we can push for more! From the moment Marco [Silva] came, everything went up, we elevated! Here we are now. If someone pushes that much for you, then I’m really thankful for that! Without him, I don’t know if I’d be here. I want to thank him for that. Now it’s for me to give something back!”
The right back also expressed how pleased he was to sign his new deal so he could concentrate on preparing for the new season.
“That’s important for me, that’s why I wanted to sign the deal as soon as possible. We have one more week off, then it’s time to shine! Last few weeks have been stressful, now it’s time to train and recharge a little bit. I just can’t wait to start.”
The popular defender also hinted at the strength of the bond he feels between himself and the Craven Cottage faithful.
It started in the championship, I always give 100%, they’re always behind me, singing my song and everything – giving me power. I’m really thankful for that. I keep going, and hope they keep going too.”
I think this is excellent news. If Jedi stays this will arguably be the best defensive pairing if PFL now that Liverpool have lost theirs.
Thanks King Kenny and looking forward to more of the same
