Fulham head coach Marco Silva has confirmed that Spanish centre half Jorge Cuenca won’t be leaving Craven Cottage this summer, according to Jack Kelly.
The defender, who played twelve games in his first season with the Whites after signing from Villarreal, had been linked with a return to La Liga but Silva told Canal 11 last night that the 26 year-old is part of his plans for the forthcoming campaign.
“We have four centre backs. This is my best year at the club … we are well served in terms of centre backs. [Jorge] Cuenca didn’t play as much last year, but we’re happy with him.”
Cuenca is fit to face Saudi side Al-Ittihad in tomorrow’s behind-closed-doors clash having completed a couple of training sessions after limping during Fulham’s 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
Glad he’s staying.
From what I’ve seen of him, he’s solid enough and has a good passing range.
If CBass hadn’t had such a monster of a season, Cuenca might have got more of a look in
We’ve yet to see him get a run of games and think he’ll be more than good enough, on the basis that you don’t get selected for Barca B if you don’t show any potential.
