Fulham under 18s were beaten 3-2 by Bristol City in their latest pre-season friendly at the Robins High Performance Centre this afternoon.

The young Whites never fully recovered from going down 2-0 inside the first 32 minutes. An experimental line-up, featuring a trialist, fell behind on eight minutes when Devont’e Ferguson punished slack marking from a corner to score at the back post. An own goal then gave Fulham a mountain to climb.

Callum Cliff clattered a 30-yarder against the crossbar as the visitors finished the first period strongly before Freddie Godden made two good saves to deny Brodie Dair in the second half. Harry Hogg scored somewhat against the run of play to give the home side a commanding 3-0 lead – although the quality of his low finish from the edge of the box couldn’t be faulted.

Quinn Schutter’s superb free-kick finally put Ali Melloul’s side on the scoreboard and when captain Aidan Evans converted a cross from substitute Bashil Lubega from Fulham’s next attack a comeback looked on the cards. But the young Whites couldn’t force a late leveller as they ultimately left themselves too much to do.

The under 18s are back in action at Cobham Town on Tuesday night, with kick off at 7.15pm.
