Fulham have resurrected their interest in Douglas Luiz after Juventus formally told the Brazilian midfielder that was not part of their future plans.
Luiz, who only joined the Italian giants in a £42m move from Aston Villa a year ago, has been informed by the Juve hierarchy that he is free to find a new club. Reports in the Italian press over the last week suggested he had been offered as a makeweight in several deals that Juventus are seeking to conclude, with Corriere Dello Sport claiming yesterday that the midfielder had been suggested as one of the players available in a deal designed to take the Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho to Turin.
Fulham have held a long-standing interest in the Brazilian international – and enquired as to his availability in January, but both the player and the Bianconeri were not willing to do a deal then. Luiz made 27 appearances in all competitions last season, but failed to score a goal, as La Vecchia Signora struggled to finish fourth in Serie A. Juve are unlikely to get even half of the fee they paid Villa for Luiz so a loan, which would interest the Whites, looks a likelier route to regular football for the former Vasco de Gama and Manchester City midfielder.
Silva is seeking Premier League experience in the middle of the park. The Rio de Janeiro born midfielder scored 22 goals in 204 games for Aston Villa and has won eighteen senior caps for Brazil, having helped his country win Olympic gold in Tokyo in 2021. Reports from Italy claim that Fulham and Everton have tabled formal enquiries to both Juventus, who would like a loan with an obligation to buy in the absence of a straight sale, and Luiz’s representatives.
Until offers are made all these enquiries mean nothing and you never know if true or made up by agents or media
Fulham are not lining up a deal for Luiz.
So many rumours never know if they are true or just agents playing silly games
‘Tis the season.
I’m sick of all these rumours about us signing players which never happen just let us know when we actually sign someone
He’ll be too expensive anyway.
