Fulham are in advanced negotiations with Arsenal over Reiss Nelson’s potential Craven Cottage return, according to the Athletic’s David Ornstein.

The talks between the two London rivals are progressing well as club executives have forged a strong relationship in recent years as the Whites have signed Bernd Leno, Cedric Soares, Emile Smith Rowe and Nelson from the Gunners. The deal to bring Nelson back to SW6 could be either a loan with an option to buy or a permanent deal, but Fulham are only prepared to conclude a transfer that is financially beneficial for them.

Marco Silva is a fan of the 26 year-old winger who made thirteen appearances for the Whites last term and feels that losing Nelson to the hamstring injury he suffered last December significantly hurt their chances of qualifying for Europe. Arsenal are open to the repeat loan that would appear to be Fulham’s preference, but the deal would need to include an obligation rather than an option to buy.

Nelson’s Arsenal deal runs until the summer of 2027. His last appearance for the Gunners came against Aston Villa last August. Fulham are looking to add to their wide options this summer – and the former England youth international features alongside Raheem Sterling on Silva’s shopping list.
