Damian Cech – son of former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper Petr – has signed a scholarship with Fulham, according to reports from the Czech Republic.
Sportnet reports that the sixteen year-old, who grew up in London whilst his father was playing in the Premier League, has been training at Motspur Park for a few years since he was released by Chelsea’s academy. The younger Cech’s sister also plays for Fulham’s female youth side as a defender and Damien has now put pen to paper on a formal contract with London’s oldest professional club.
In an interview with Idnes.cz, Cech Snr – who won 124 caps for the Czech Republic and four Premier League details in a storied career, says:
I didn’t push my children into football, but they found it anyway. They just live with my name, so they have been compared to me since they were very young.”
Aren’t we supposed to say Czechia now?
