Portuguese paper O Jogo claim Jorge Cuenca is unlikely to remain at Fulham for the duration of his contract having been disappointed with a lack of first-team football in his first Craven Cottage campaign.

The newspaper reports that yesterday’s suggestion from Sacha Tavolieri that Spaniard could be the subject of a Benfica bid might be a bit premature. The Eagles are relaxed about their options in the centre of defence after Nicolas Otamendi signed a contract extension, but have placed Cuenca on their list of targets should the highly-rated Antonio Silva leave the Estádio da Luz this summer.

Cuenca, who has previously insisted through his representatives that he wants to stay and fight for a spot in Marco Silva’s side, played just twelve matches after signing for Fulham from Villarreal last August. He has three years left on his current contract and the Whites view him as a key part of their first-team squad, especially with Calvin Bassey likely to be away with Nigeria during the African Cup of Nations this winter.
