Fulham legend Luis Boa Morte has been appointed as an assistant coach of Turkish Super Lig side Samsunspor.
The 47 year-old, who followed six years as a player at Craven Cottage with three seasons on Marco Silva’s coaching staff in SW6, was sacked from his first managerial role as national coach of Guinea-Bissau in June after a year in charge. Boa Morte won just one game in charge of The Dromedaries, who failed to qualify for the African Cup of Nations and were struggling in their World Cup qualifying campaign.
The former Portuguese international has joined the coaching staff of German Thomas Reis who guided Samsunspor to third place in the Turkish top-flight last term despite the club being under a transfer embargo. The Red Lightning will compete in the Europa League for the first time in their history during the upcoming campaign.
