Portuguese giants Benfica have made an enquiry regarding the availability of Fulham centre back Jorge Cuenca, according to reports from Europe.
Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolier reveals that the Eagles are interested in signing the 26 year-old Spanish defender, who made twelve first-team appearances in his first Craven Cottage campaign last year. Cuenca was linked to a return to a La Liga following reports that was homesick earlier this summer, but the centre half’s representatives quickly denied that was the case and the left-sided centre back rejected Rayo Vallecano’s approach to fight for a place in the Fulham first-team.
Cuenca, a highly-rated defender who won the UEFA Youth League with Barcelona, played 60 games for Villarreal before signing for Fulham last August. He has three years left on his current contract, with the Whites retaining an option for a further twelve months.
No!! He’s our cover for when Bassey goes to the African Nations Cup and if Bassey is injured. He proved last season he can handle it.
He also has left back experience too so a very important squad player who probably should be rotated in a little more to ensure the starters stay fresh.
This season he must be used more. Great ball passing player which means he can easily slot into a defence midfield roll. We have to keep him at all costs
Regardless of who is interested in whom, I just long for INCOMING DEAL DONE.
Surely, thus week MUST bring some joy???
We must keep Jorge he is the future and plays well. With Luke de F and our three others we are OK for CBs
From what I’ve seen of him, if we didn’t have Big Calvin, then Jorge would be our starter. Good passer of the ball and solid defensively.
I hope he stays and that he gets more playing time this season.
Same goes for Diop.
