Former Fulham defender Abdes Ouaddoh has been appointed the new coach of South African top flight outfit Orlando Pirates.
The former Moroccan international succeeds Jose Riveiro, who resigned to take over at Saudi Pro League side Al Ahly, and returns to South Africa after an acrimonious departure from Marumo Gallants after saving Siwelele Sa Marumo from relegation. The 46 year-old will oversee pre-season preparations from June 27 and his first friendly sees his new club take on Bolton Wanderers during a Marbella training camp.
Ouaddoh, who made 36 appearances during four years at Craven Cottage, ended his playing career after being held hostage in Qatar and has since embarked on a coaching career across Africa. We’d like to wish Abdes the very best of luck in his new role.
