Fulham forward Callum Osmand has signed for Scottish giants Glasgow Celtic this afternoon.
The Welsh under-19 international, who scored eighteen goals in 31 games for the Whites’ under-21s last term, turned down a new contract at Craven Cottage to become part of Brendan Rodgers’ first-team squad at Celtic Park.
Osmand, who spent five years at Motspur Park and moves north of the border for a development fee, told Celtic TV:
“It feels unbelievable to be here and I am so happy to be here. It is a big step for me, and I am excited to get going. It’s a massive move and I can’t wait to step out at Celtic Park in front of all the fans.
When I spoke to the manager, he was really positive. The plan and pathway he has set out for the club is top, so it’s exciting with the pathway he has for me. He has set out what he wants from me, and it is all really positive, so I can’t wait to get going now.
I’ve also spoken to Matt O’Riley on the phone, so he has given me advice. He was telling me about how big the club is, how amazing the fans are and it’s a new life really. So excited is definitely the word for me.”
Our famed production line provides another player to the first team squad (of yet another club).
I’m proud of our philanthropy
Same old story no keeping promising young players
‘Scores lots of goals’ – let’s sell him then. Been the same since Rodney Marsh
|I know how you feel Fulham fans we are a club that loses nearly all of our academy players for next to nothing. Ben Doak, Rocco Vata, Daniel Cummings to name a few.
was he actually going to play much
we see the club are clearly in for another striker so his minutes playing would minimal
the only big error is yet again the club has allowed a youngster to go for a minimal fee
If we don’t give our youngsters a chance what do you expect, Celtic will give him the chance so why don’t we.
Very few of the youngsters who leave achieve a Prem level career. Osmond could be one of those but he never impressed me on the few occasions I saw him play. Silva clearly felt no need to fast track him. I doubt he’ll walk into the Celtic first team.
According to reports he turned down a new contract offer. So if he wants to leave there is not much you can do. He knows he would have been 4th choice striker at the best.
Makes a change from English teams poaching all the best players from Celtic. We got £500,000 for Ben Doak and a couple of years later Liverpool are trying to sell him for £30 million
