Fulham have turned down an approach from Leeds United to sign centre forward Rodrigo Muniz.
The newly-promoted club have made the signing of new strikers a priority as they try to strengthen Daniel Farke’s squad before the start of the new Premier League season but we understand that Fulham have told Leeds – like a host of Premier League sides – that the 24 year-old is not for sale.
Marco Silva values the Brazilian highly – having pushed Fulham to make Muniz his first signing when he succeeded Scott Parker – and the Whites value him at around £50m. This has been enough to end interest from Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United and the Craven Cottage hierarchy are poised to begin talks with Muniz’s representatives over a long-term contract.
The former Flamengo forward has twelve months remaining on his current contract, with Fulham holding a 12-month extension option. Muniz has scored 26 goals in 97 games for Fulham and was in red-hot form last term before his season was ended by an achilles injury he sustained in the 1-0 defeat at AFC Bournemouth.
The Athletic’s Beren Cross writes that Leeds sources have acknowledged the club’s interest in Muniz but ‘feel other strikers on their shortlist are more likely to be recruited at this stage.’
Hope we keep him. He may push for move if Silva leaves, it’s coming out of Portugal that Silva very close to joining Spurs and there saying the British media have got it wrong with Franks of Brentford
Keeping him is a top priority! I want to see him forming partnerships with more players now that Pereria is out. He’s magic and he’s got many more years of ‘tearing teams apart’.
Everything goes out the window if Silva goes then Muniz will go why would Silva go to a job that’s a poison chalice but it’s up to him a lot of this is hype anyway
Why would he go to Leeds???
