Fulham are keen on signing the Australian international goalkeeper Mat Ryan as back up to Bernd Leno, according to Jack Kelly.
Marco Silva wants a dependable deputy to his German number one after Steven Benda’s shaky displays last term. Ryan, who has won a century of caps for his country. fits the bill and has Premier League experience after spending three seasons at Brighton and Hove Albion. The Plumpton-born custodian helped solidify the Seagulls in the top flight before being loaned to Arsenal, where he set up a late equaliser against Fulham that cost Scott Parker’s side a valuable victory at the Emirates.
The 33 year-old has recently regained his place from Joe Gauci as the Socceroos number one and saved a crucial penalty as Tony Popovic’s men beat Saudi Arabia 2-1 to clinch their place at next summer’s World Cup finals.
Recognising what everyone knows. Benda can’t be our first call if Leno unavailable
Why would he come to sit on the bench? He’s not going to keep his international spot like that. If he leaves Brighton surely it would be for a No.1 shirt somewhere.
Could be a good ? signing here !! Just got released by Lens in France but experienced EPL keeper with Brighton .He is available for free transfer and the club have nothing to lose here.Must better than Bends as a back up !!.
If he will join costs nothing . He would be good back up must be better than Benda who we all know is hopeless.
Contract expired in france, nice pick up if he joins ! Although we need to start looking at Leno’s position in the next 12 months. Kelleher would have been the one considering his price
At last we are looking at a backup goalie I was worried all last season if Leno got injured long term the thought of Benda was frightening in the premiership, this lad is a good goalie so at last (if we get him) good back up looking long term also somebody like Ramsdale might be worth looking at hope we get him
