Fulham are exploring a move for the Newcastle United midfielder Joe Willock, according to a report in this morning’s Irish Mirror.
The Whites are known to be long-term admirers of the former Arsenal man, whose availability is also being monitored by Crystal Palace. The 25 year-old has made 143 appearances and scored 18 goals since moving to St. James’ Park in 2021 and United may consider a sale to fund their summer signings, even though Willock is highly regarded by Eddie Howe. There is a significant gap between what Fulham would be willing to pay for the midfielder and Newcastle’s valuation of their former England under-21 international, with United looking to recoup the reported £25m they paid for the Walthamstow-born League Cup winner.
Marco Silva is looking to add more creativity into his midfield ahead of the new campaign having identified the predictability of Fulham’s patterns of play as one of the reasons why the Whites’ European bid hit the buffers in the final weeks of this campaign.
Not sure about this one due to his constant injury history
Good player when fit. But like John have injury concerns, think enough risk with players with injury problems definitely not for the 25m asking price. Let’s buy some fit players
Willock is a good athlete, with some goals in him and a skill at progressing the ball into the box. His last season was riddled with injury, but if he gets back to full fitness he’s a handful.
