Fulham defender Luc de Fougerolles played 63 minutes of Canada’s 6-0 win over Honduras as Jesse Marsch’s side started their Gold Cup campaign in real style in Vancouver last night.

Nineteen year-old de Fougerolles, who was included in Canada’s squad for this tournament despite missing most of last season through injury, started at centre back and was full of defensive diligence and composed touches during his time on the pitch. The talented teenager was handed a senior debut by Marco Silva two years ago and has been tipped to break into the Fulham first team picture this year.

Canada easily outclassed a Honduras outfit that appeared overawed by the big occasion with a brace from Tajon Buchanan and goals from Niko Sigur, Tani Oluwaseyi, Promise David and Nathan Saliba securing a thumping victory.
