Marco Silva has just told Talksport that he ‘thinks’ Tom Cairney has played his last game for Fulham in the final day defeat by Manchester City.

The Fulham head coach wanted the 34 year-old to extend his stay at Craven Cottage into an eleventh season but the club and their captain, who has made 354 appearances and won three promotions with the Whites, have so far proven unable to agree terms over a new contract. The Scottish international received a rapturous reception from the home fans when he was replaced by Josh King in the aftermath of City’s second goal.

Silva did tell the radio station that he would be in the Fulham dugout at the start of next season and that the club were still in talks with Kenny Tete, whose contract also expires next month. He said:

“I will stay at Fulham. I will be here next season. The decision is made”.
