Fulham have tabled an offer worth £1m for Peterborough United left-back Harley Mills, according to Neil Moxley.
The Whites are keen to sign the highly-rated 19 year-old for Hayden Mullins’ under-21 side after scouting him extensively last season, initially during his loan spell at Enfield Town and then when he starred as the Posh won the Football League Trophy in April. Mills was man of the match as United beat Birmingham City in the final, scoring a superb free-kick to open the scoring and setting up Hector Kyprianou’s second goal.
Peterborough are mulling over the approach from the Premier League side but are hopeful of holding onto a player who shone in their under-18 side, winning the Professional Development Cup, after being released by Aston Villa. Mills, who can also operate on the left side of midfield, has previously attracted interest from Crystal Palace – with United turning down several bids three summers ago. They have offered Mills a new deal, but Fulham’s status as one of the country’s leading academies with a proven pathway in the first-team makes their approach attractive.
The Birmingham-born starlet has made 18 first-team appearances for Peterborough, scoring two goals, and played eight games for Enfield in the National League South last season.
Proven pathway to the first team? That’s coming it a bit thick isn’t it?
I have no idea of the worth of players(value) but 1 million in this day and age doesn’t sound very much.
If we sign him, I hope he proves to be the next Andy Robertson.
19 years of ok play a few u21 games but you would hope he would be knocking on first team door and in squad next season with King. Otherwise lo it’s not a big prise bit of a waste must at least be getting run outs in cup games played 18 first team games last season scored 2 one in the lower leagues cup were he was named MOM in final win v Birmingham
Sign him and loan back to peterborough if this happens would be the best plan. Another year at mens football will only do him the world of good seeing as he hasnt got much league one experience.
Not sure having him in the u21s is better than a return to peterborough
The buy and loan back would get my vote we have three left back options (Jedi, Sess and Cuenca) and our formation doesn’t really call for a left midfield unless he can play left wing.
Silva doesn’t offer a proven pathway to the first team either but in a year or two with regular lower division experience he could join the squad.
One for the future but surely we should be looking to spend more on players who can come straight into the first team next season, we have to invest in some quality players.
We haven’t got much to lose if we do a buy and loan back scheme, so could be worth a punt. Where do J Esenga and S Amissiah fit in they played well for the u21s last year in defense.
