Fulham centre back Luc de Fougerolles has been named in the Canadian squad for the inaugural Canadian Shield in Toronto next month.
Jesse Marsch’s side will take on the Ivory Coast on Saturday 7th June before playing Ukraine on Tuesday 10th June as they step up preparations for their home World Cup next summer.
Nineteen year-old de Fougerolles, who grew in London to a Canadian father and Iranian mother, has won two senior caps for his country and made an impression when he joined Marco Silva’s first-team squad on their Summer Series tour of the United States two years ago. He was handed a senior debut in the League Cup win at Ipswich Town in November 2023 and has recently returned to the under-21 squad after spending almost all of the season on the sidelines with a serious injury.
A good lad who played well in the first team as early as the start of last season, injured for most of this term but a good leader on the pitch for the u21s and in my opinion must / should be part of the main squad for the next champagne.
