A defiant Marco Silva has pledged that his Fulham side will fight until the end of the season to try and secure a place in Europe despite yesterday’s devastating derby defeat.
The Fulham head coach spoke to DAZN Portugal immediately after late goals from Tyrique George and Pedro Neto had stunned Craven Cottage – brushing off persistent links to Tottenham Hotspur should struggling Spurs sack Ange Postecoglou.
“My head is at Fulham … we don’t control everything [that is said] around us. It is not part of me. With such important games week after week [in the Premier League], our total focus is here and we control what we can, which is preparing the players for the next matches. The goal is for us to fight … We have five finals to fight for and we will fight. There is no turning back.”
Shame they didn’t fight until the end against Chelsea instead our defenders stood and watched for their second goal especially Andersen.
Palace, Bournemouth and now that lot. A very depressing period, got to be down to Marco.
My technical footballing expertise is pretty low , but do others think that Adama has been less then average when brought on? Thanks.
After all the comments about throwing games away to late goals and poor substitutions I thought I would looked at it closer and I was surprised. I think only Ipswich have lost more points from winning positions than us. At the same time we have picked up 15 points from losing positions. We have scored 10 goals after the 80th minute and conceeded 11. Our substitutes have scored 13 times which is the most in the Premier League.
Surprising figures!!!
CB well done…been trying to make this point for some time…it’s been an amazing season considering the squad we have compared to other teams….Carlos Vinicius…wow.
As well as losing games in the last few minutes we’ve won some too like the amazing Brentford game…while we are presently berating our subs just a little while ago we were lauding them as supersubs…and heaping praise on Marco’s timing.
The word relegation has not appeared for once, from time to time we’ve played wonderful stuff.
Zippa mourns three losses but doesn’t mention beating Liverpool.
Douglas Yes , I did not express myself well enough. After the euphoria of Liverpool the same players dashed our hopes of a cup final as well as denting our European expectations. This inconsistency needs to be addressed, not by me or you but by the team management.
thanks for that but no need for self effacement here…
the fact is that we are at either end of the expectation spectrum Zippa…
your chagrin at being well beaten by Palace in the quarter finals and losing very losable games in the League is understood…you think we are capable of winning the FA Cup and qualifying for Europe.
I really do not, i am entirely amazed at a mid table finish and rejoice at entirely unexpected victories along the way…the Stamford Bridge victory is so brilliant it subtends words….the penalty victory at disUnited, the double over Newcastle, and overcoming the League champions….
it’s way more than enough for me.
…the squad is so thin as to be threadbare, the manager neither perfect or dreadful, maybe a bit better than average, the good fortune along the way better than usual.
We have exceeded all expectations as far as I can see despite the worst signing maybe ever, 32,000,000 thrown away.
…the manager needs to explain nothing, he has ridden us of the yoyo mantle at least temporarily.
Worst signing ever?! Let’s get a grip douglas. Quite frankly Mitroglou or Mawson at under half the price have been worse signings for us, they were completely useless for us. At least Smith Rowe has a chance to grow still. We have had many unexpected victories (great!), but we have also thrown away so many points against teams languishing at the bottom (Southampton, Ipswich x2, West ham X2, Wolves). Most people here are either negative or unambitious and happy to just plod along. You somehow manage to be both…
