Marco Silva believes Ryan Sessegnon’s hard graft at Motspur Park ‘is paying off’ after the Fulham academy graduate scored another crucial goal to keep the Whites in the race for Europe this weekend.
Sessegnon, who returned to Craven Cottage this summer having been released by Tottenham Hotspur, headed home a 92nd minute winner at Southampton as Silva’s side came from behind to beat the already-relegated Saints and move into eighth in the Premier League table. The 24 year-old’s fourth goal of the season sparked special praise from Silva, particularly for his work rate:
“[Ryan] always does extra work in terms of finishing and crossing and all of that stuff. But I think it is something natural, he always has the right timing in the box. He was up and down the whole game as a left back and was tired in that moment but he believed that he could be decisive and he was. We are all delighted for him. He had a few hard seasons but his hard work is paying off.”
