Fulham will battle it out with West Ham United to sign Southampton right back Kyle Walker-Peters, who is out of contract in the summer, according to Sky Sports News.
Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth suggests this afternoon that the Whites have reignited their long-term interest in the England international but will face competition from the Hammers, who are also in the market for defensive reinforcements. The Cottagers are understood to be lining up potential replacements for Dutch defender Kenny Tete, who has turned down Fulham’s offer of a new contract and can leave Craven Cottage on a free transfer in June.
Walker-Peters, who was born in Edmonton, came through the Tottenham academy and made 24 first-team appearances for Spurs, whom he helped reach the Champions’ League final in 2019, before moving to St. Mary’s permanently after a successful loan spell with the Saints in 2020. The 28 year-old, who won two senior England caps three years ago, has made 191 appearances – scoring six goals – for Southampton and starred against Marco Silva’s side on Saturday.
It will be sad to see Tete go but Walker is a good player, plus it will cost us nothing to sign him !! Good Business if we can get it done !!!.
I thought we had an option to extend Kenny’s contract?
Be a loss!
Walker-Peters would be a positive addition though
