Marco Silva is opening discussions with Fulham about extending his contract at Craven Cottage – after leading the Whites into European contention both in the Premier League and the FA Cup this term.
The Portuguese head coach has been an undoubted success since succeeding Scott Parker as the Fulham boss in 2021, leading the club back to the top flight at the first attempt by winning the Championship at a canter. Silva broke the cycle of immediate relegation from the Premier League, guiding the Londoners to tenth on their return to the top tier and the semi-finals of the League Cup in the following season.
Silva’s achievements are all the more impressive as Fulham have sold some of their key performers, including Aleksandar Mitrovic and Joao Palhinha, and reports in the press over the past few days suggest that he has attracted interest from other Premier League clubs. The Telegraph claims he is on Tottenham’s shortlist to succeed Ange Postecoglou, but sources close to Silva suggest that he is happy at Fulham and will be willing to stay in SW6 should he continue to be backed in the transfer market.
The former Hull City, Watford and Everton manager is under contract until the end of next season and has a hefty release clause. He has previously rejected approaches from West Ham United and several Saudi Arabian clubs to continue working at Craven Cottage.
I hope he stays.
We all want Marco to stay so he has to be backed in the summer transfer window and the board has to sign players Marco needs.
Fingers firmly crossed.
Hope he stay for few more yrs !!.
