A devastating double from Raul Jimenez guided Mexico into the CONCACAF Nations League as they beat Canada 2-0 in the semi-finals over night.
The in-form Fulham forward opened scoring in the first minute with a customary cool finish when the ball bounced off Alphonso Davies in the box. Jimenez then doubled the lead with a fabulous free-kick from thirty yards out with fifteen minutes to play.
Mexico will face Panama, who upset the United States, in the final in California on Sunday.
Worth a trip onto YouTube for Mexico v Canada highlights – an amazing free kick from Raul to add to a well-taken first minute goal – also a very harsh denial of a penalty for Canada (obviously no VAR).
